Rail Planning & Development Dept, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has kicked off Donate Your Old PC campaign aimed at collecting personal computers, along with any accessories thereof, and delivering them to Computers Rehabilitation Center, Dubai Municipality where they will be donated to charity organizations and needy students.
Speaking about the campaign, Abdul Rida Abu Al Hassan, Director of Rail Planning & Development, RTA Rail Agency said: This campaign is held in line with the annual plan of the Dept envisaging a variety of events such as cultural, health, recreational, communal, environmental and charity activities. This event is held in the context of environmental awareness messages we are keen on holding throughout the year in order to promote the environmental awareness of employees.
Abdul Rida stated that Donate Your Old PC campaign stems from the value of protecting the environment as well as recycling and re-using used systems. We opted to hold a number of workshops to emulate the concept of rehabilitating computers and showcasing the role of the project champions; a process that involves thorough cleaning and deleting of all old data from the memory, overhauling the machine, repacking it and delivering it to the concerned bodies.
Abu Al Hassan stated that the role of the concerned bodies is not restricted to receiving and recycling computers but also includes disposing off obsolete machines in a way that conserves the environment.
Rail Planning & Development Dept is keen on encouraging employees to donate their old systems, and rewarding donors who contribute to the success of the campaign which serves the community, stated Abu Al Hassan.
The Director of Rail Planning & Development also added that the initiatives campaigned by the Dept in the past as part of its annual events, highlighted by the World Water Day featuring an exhibition displaying a number of drawings demonstrating various means of curbing overuse, workshops on reducing water consumption, specialized workshops about the means of cutting water consumption, and an expo featuring participation of specialized companies exhibiting the latest water reservoirs cleaning systems and delivering several specialized medical tips.
