Dubai British School Principal, Andy Homden, has been selected to speak about the school’s effective use of ICT at this year’s Global Education Forum on 4th May 2011.

The event, which attracts education technology experts, academics and education specialists from within and outside of the UAE, showcases the latest technology and enables the sharing of best practice.

Mr Homden’s presentation, entitled Effective use of ICT to drive school improvement and student learning’, outlines the experiences and challenges faced by Dubai British School over the past three years in its successful implementation of new ICT frameworks and resources to help improve student learning and the smooth running of the whole school.

The new systems have helped to improve student well being, academic tracking and target setting, admissions and attendance analysis, efficient and effective use of the time of all users and more flexible reporting.

Mr Homden is delighted to have the opportunity to share the experiences of DBS with academic institutions in the UAE and across the world, he said: “One of the most important elements of getting the DBS ICT policy right was ensuring we had the right people to back, introduce and ‘champion’ it throughout the whole school – from the Senior Leadership Team to our support staff and teachers. Our Director of Educational Technology and the Administration team worked closely together to ensure that all elements of our policy and practice were thought through and would enhance student, teacher and administration experiences.”

Founded in 2005 and located in the Springs area of Dubai’s Emirates Hills, Dubai British School is a purpose built British international school, with over a thousand students aged 3 to 18. The school achieved CIS accreditation in 2009-2010 and is a member of Taaleem group of schools. For more information about the school, please visit our website www.dubaibritishschool.ae.
