Al Murooshid lays foundation stone for Al Barsha Medical Centre
His Excellency Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) laid the foundation stone for the state-of-the-art Al Barsha Health Centre today.
The centre, which is located in Al Barsha 2, has a built up area of 70,000 sq ft, will be constructed with an investment of Dh 50 million. The project will be completed by mid 2012 and will serve a population of approximately 60,000 people living in the vicinity.
His Excellency Al Murooshid said that the initiative to add new health centres and strengthen primary health care is as per the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and as per the directions of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority( DHA).
“This centre will provide multidisciplinary services to its population. It will have two an emergency section, family clinics, specialist clinics, specialist centres, dental centres, maternity and child care, x-ray and laboratory, health screening services and a pharmacy.”
The DHA primary health care centres include Al Mamzar, Abu Hail, Al Qusais Al Twar Al Rashidiya , Al Khawaneej , Nad Al Hammar Al Mazhar , Al Safa , Al Mankhool , Al Lisaily, Al Barsha , Umm Suqeim, Al Bada'a, Nad Al Sheba and Airport Medical Health Centre.
Senior members from DHA including Dr Ahmed Kalban, CEO of Primary Healthcare, Engineer Saeed Al Shamsi, Director of Engineering, Ms Heba Al Shaar, Director of Institutional Marketing and Communications, Tony Batour Elzoghbi, Director of Governance and Internal Audit Department, Joseph Bou Chahine, Head of Section, Engineering Department and Mohammed Saleh Bin Lahej, CEO and owner of Saleh Bin Lahej group were present during the inaugural ceremony.
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) was created in June 2007, by Law 13 issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai As the strategic health authority for the Emirate of Dubai, the DHA is empowered to set policies and strategies for health and to assure the application of those health policies and strategies. His Excellency Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid is the Director General of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
The DHA’s aim in Dubai is to provide an accessible, effective and integrated healthcare system, protect public health and improve the quality of life within the Emirate. This is a direct translation of the objectives of the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Keeping the strategic plan in mind, the DHA’s mission is to ensure access to health services, maintain and improve the quality of these services, improve the health status of nationals, residents and visitors and oversee a dynamic, efficient and innovative health sector.
In addition to overseeing the health sector for the Emirate of Dubai, the DHA also focuses on providing services through DHA healthcare facilities including hospitals (Al Wasl, Dubai and Rashid), specialty centres (e.g. the Joslin Diabetes Center) and DHA primary health centres spread throughout the Emirate of Dubai.
The main pillars of service delivery at DHA health facilities are quality, efficiency, patients and staff. It is our aim to maintain and/or improve the quality and efficiency of DHA health services. An important aspect of the service delivery strategy is to focus on patients, their needs and satisfaction as well as as well as attract, retain, nurture and support outstanding staff.
