Solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal power are traditionally regarded a means for harnessing the energy produced by natural systems of the earth. Advances in these technologies have started to make each of them a viable alternative to fossil-fuel use, said Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director, TECOM Investments’ Education Cluster, at the Offshore Arabia Conference and Exhibition 2011 in Dubai.

Dr. Kazim spoke on ‘Hydrogen Production through Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion System’ on the second day of the sixth edition of the international conference and exhibition on energy and environment.

Held from 28 - 30 March at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV), the region's premier destination for human resources management and a member of TECOM Investments’ Education Cluster, supported the event as the Knowledge Partner.

In addition to working on several renewable and hydrogen energy research projects, Dr. Kazim has published articles and technical papers on renewable energy, hydrogen energy, fuel cells, environment and water resources, as well as energy policy and economics.

Based on its overarching theme of ‘Global Partners for Energy and Environment – from Crises to Sustainability’, 6th Offshore Arabia brought together a large array of companies, private and governmental research institutions. It particularly showcased state-of-the-art technology and reflected organizations’ commitment to energy and environment.

As part of its corporate and social responsibility programme, Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City, members of TECOM Investments’ Education Cluster, consistently support initiatives that promote knowledge on sustainable energy in light of the environmental shift towards renewable energy sources.
