NMC enter Al Aqili quarters
New Medical Centre (NMC) scored back-to-back wins to enter the last eight of the Al Aqili Ramadan Twenty20 Trophy at the Shaikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium.
They ended Phoenix Medicine’s unbeaten run in Group C with a four-wicket victory and then scored a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Abu Dhabi Airport Services (ADAS).
In reply, Ashan Ali made an unbeaten 58 and Indika Sampath scored 41 as NMC got him with four wickets to spare.
Ali’s knock was studded with eight boundaries and it came from 40 balls. Meanwhile, Sampath clubbed three sixes and three boundaries in 30 balls
In the next game, UAE international Saqib Ali snapped up four wickets for five runs. Another UAE international left-arm medium pacer Manjula Guruge took three for 11 and Shadeep Silva returned with two for 15 as Abu Dhabi Airport Services were shot out for a paltry 61 in 13.5 overs. Kabir Khan made 26.
NMC overhauled the target in just 2.5 overs without the loss of a wicket. Sampath followed up his 41 in the earlier match with a quickfire and unbeaten 51 from just 17 balls. His knock was peppered with nine boundaries and two sixes.
