Bowlers roar for Lanka Lions
Tharaka Samaratunga and Aruna Bandaranayake produced dream spells as Lanka Lions defeated Yogi Group by nine runs in the 4th Al Dhaid Ramadan Tournament, organised by Sharjah Cricket Council, played at Al Dhaid Cricket village under lights.
Yogi Group had bowled well to restrict Lanka Lions to a meager 121 in 19.5 overs but they fumbled during the chase thanks to some brilliant bowling from the duo as they were bundled out for only 112 in 19.1 overs.
Malintha Perera further boosted the score adding another significant 17 runs from 18 deliveries. Heshan De Silva was batting well before he was run out on 24 from 25 deliveries consisting of two boundaries and Oshada Warnapura chipped in with 22 from 27 balls but with hardly any contribution from the lower order Lanka Lions managed to reach 121.
Sandeep Singh, Shadeep Silva and Ambay Parwatkar took two wickets apiece for Yogi Group.
Replying, Yogi Group opener Salman Faris gave a positive scoring 33 from 38 deliveries with the help of four boundaries.
