Good response for NDC Bowling event

Bowls thundered down the lanes as the National Drilling Company (NDC) Ramadan Bowling Tournament began at Zayed Sports City.

 

The event, which will see 131 bowlers from 17 countries compete at the Khalifa International Bowling Centre throughout the Holy Month, started on July 18, following an inauguration attended by representatives from the sponsors the National Drilling Company and bowlers from across the UAE and beyond.

After the inauguration, a number of bowlers took to the lanes to start their qualifying rounds. Over the next few weeks every competitor will register scores from three three-game series’ – with the best-scoring 24 competitors advancing to the semi-final round on August 14. The final will be held on August 15. The competition is split into three divisions: Men’s, Ladies’ and Youth.

The popular Ramadan tournament is a prelude a series of championships in the 2012/13 season at the Khalifa International Bowling Centre, the next of which is to be the National Day Bowling Championship, to take place in December 2012. The centre will be hosting the 2014 World Tenpin Bowling Association World Men’s Championship and the Women’s World Championship in 2015.
