ADEC to build new world-class school in Athan, RAK
Abu Dhabi 22nd July, 2012:
In line with the directives of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahayan, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), the construction of a new world-class school by ADEC has started in Athan area, Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director General of ADEC, visited the school construction site to oversee work progress. Upon arrival, Dr. Al Khaili was welcomed by Ms. Sumaya Al Suwaidi, Director of RAK Educational Zone, in the presence of Eng. Hamad Al Dhaheri, ADEC’s Executive Director of Private Schools and Quality Assurance and Division Manager of Infrastructure and Facilities; as well as a number of ADEC division managers and officials.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Al Khaili said that “construction works started mid June and the first phase, of building a KG and C1 facilities, will be completed by January 2013. The Second phase, of building C2 and C3 facilities, is scheduled to be accomplished by 2016.”
“Thanks to the limitless support of education by HH Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, the new school will provide Athan students with access to quality education in accordance with the highest standards and criteria in order to enable them to be future leaders,” added Dr. Al Khaili.
Eng. Hamad Al Dhaheri, said that the design of the new ADEC-supervised school is economical and easy to build, operate and maintain in order to provide students and school staff with encouraging learning environment that meets health and security requirements.
“Sustainability elements such as economical ACs and water facilities, insulation, shading, use of daylight and control of air quality and temperature in indoor areas will be integral part of the new school,” he added.
“The school will include labs and ICT, music, and art rooms, in addition to pools, libraries, sport rooms, auditorium and other facilities that can be used by community after school hours. All learning spaces will have wireless internet access,” Al Dhaheri indicated.
