The new bridge will ensure a smooth traffic movement

The Sharjah Directorate of Public works (DPW) will inaugurate the renovated and reconstructed University Bridge in front of the gate of the Sharjah University City in Al Maleeha area around midnight on Sunday. The project cost Dh3.9 million.

Amal Al Khamis, Director of Road Maintenance Department of the DPW, noted that the DPW has completed the new bridge project within the estimated time while maintaining security and safety on site during the construction period.

“It took around five months to complete the project starting from the end of March and motorists who were using the old route were provided with an alternative detour during the period we were working on the bridge,” Amal said.

She added that the renovation work featured maintenance and repair of the bridge, rebuilding walls of the bridge and re-paving the asphalt layer.

“The University Bridge is considered an important bridge in Sharjah as it is located at the gate of the Sharjah University City and serves motorists coming from various directions. The project is part of our main objective to improve the road infrastructure while meeting urban expansion related demands of the citizens of the emirate,” she said.

The new bridge will ease traffic jams on the road network and ensure its smooth movement. The DPW has urged members of the society who wish to place a suggestion or comment about any project to call the hotline, 80086767.
