JRT Global FZC defeated Abu Dhabi Cargo Company (ADCC) Cricket Team by 90 runs in the inaugural match of the 11th Dulsco Ramadan Cricket Tournament. JRT Global, put into bat after losing the toss, piled up 191 for the loss of five wickets and later restricted their rivals to 101 for nine.

The tournament is being organised by Dulsco SC under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council and played at the Zabeel Park Cricket Ground Dubai.

Two 80-run partnerships saw JRT Global, who were making their debut after forming a cricket team, set up a stiff victory target for ADCC after suffering an early blow. Opener Raja Ram returned to the pavilion after ADCC bowler Arshad got first of his three wickets in the fourth ball of the innings. Ram failed to open his account and faced just two balls.

The other opener, Prajakat Chouhan, then added 80 runs for the second wicket with Nitin Bhartan who came in at Ram’s fall. Chouhan scored 41 from 28 deliveries and reached the ropes thrice and over them twice before he fell off Naresh’s bowling. Nithin hit 26 from 23 balls and hit two fours before he became ADCC captain Zulfikar’s victim.

Vinu Ramachandran was involved with the second 80-run partnership with Sylvester Vijay. Ramachandran hit a 26-ball half century (50). He belted five sixes and two fours before he was bowled by Arshad. Vijay also got his half-century (58) from 28 balls and hit one six and two fours. He became Arshad’s third victim. Niyas Hussain (11) and Bipin Jacob (1) were at the crease with JRT Global setting up a 192 target for ADCC to attain.

Arshad was the most successful bowler for ADCC with three wickets for 39 runs. Naresh and Zulfikar picked up one each for 26 and 34 runs respectively.

Facing a difficult task, ADCC caved in under pressure and never came close to the required run rate. Only Omer offered some resistance making 42 from 27 deliveries and hit three sixes and two fours. The rest of ADCC players failed to read the rivals’ bowling and most of them could not even open their account.

Sony Stephen and Sylvester were the most successful bowlers for the winners bagging three wickets each. While Sylvester conceded eight runs Stephen gave away 10. Chouhan picked up two for 20 while Shamsher Usman and Mehnaz K claimed one each for 37 and eight runs respectively. Chouhan of JRT Global was named the man of the match for his all-round display.

Johnson Alexander, director HR and QHSE of Dulsco, declared the tournament open in the presence of Prakash Parab, director WMS, and Javed Butt, manager of Dulsco SC cricket team.
