Dh25.6m projects to help the needy in 19 countries
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment on Monday announced plans to carry out 24 projects worth Dh25.6 million during the holy month of Ramadan to help poor families in around 19 countries have Iftar and other necessary food.
Ibrahim Bumelha, Vice-Chairman of the board of trustees of the establishment, said: “The charity programmes will provide basic food to approximately 3,250 families in the UAE, focussing on the Northern Emirates, at a cost of Dh22 million. Around Dh3 million have been earmarked for international support for Somalia, Gaza and others.” The establishment signed an agreement with Lulu Hypermarket for the distribution of Dh2million worth of vouchers of Dh800 and Dh500 each to 3,250 families in the UAE.
“Only families registered with the establishment will receive the donations, and those registering will be visited and checked to make sure they need help. The donors will receive a full report, including the distribution records and the families receiving the donations,” he added. The establishment will also distribute 1,000 boxes of local dates at petrol stations.
