Registration for theStandard Chartered Dubai Marathon 2013 opens today
Bank tosponsor Dubai marathon through 2015
UAE, 15 July, 2012 –Standard Chartered announced today that runners can register for the StandardChartered Dubai Marathon 2013 from today onwards. The Bank also said that ithad signed a three-year contract to extend its sponsorship of the StandardChartered Dubai Marathon until 2015.
The Marathon will be held on the 25th January,2013, with the start / finish line in Downtown Dubai in the shadow of theiconic Burj Khalifa building. There will be four race categories - 42, 10 and 3kilometres - and entry fees are 120, 60 and 15 US Dollars, respectively.
TheStandard Chartered Dubai Marathon also provides another a race categoryfor companies to participate in - The Corporate Challenge. Registrationfor the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon 2013 is available online only at www.dubaimarathon.org.
Standard Chartered has been the title sponsor of theDubai Marathon since 2005. The race attracted 600 runners in 1990; thisyear’s race in January attracted almost 20,000 runners across the 42km,10km and 3km distances.
Standard Chartered is title sponsor of nine marathonsacross four continents. In addition to underlining the Bank’s ‘Herefor good’ brand promise, the sponsorships allow Standard Chartered toraise awareness about Seeing is Believing, its global sustainability programmeto help tackle avoidable blindness. This programme has alreadyhelped restore the sight of more than 2.5 million peopleglobally, and the Bank has committed to raise USD100 million by 2020. Lastweek it announced that USD50 million has been raised so far. In the 2012 Dubairace, nearly 1,000 Standard Chartered staff ran or volunteered to help raisefunds and awareness of Seeing is Believing.
