Team CP World win ICC GCA cricket title
DUBAI — Defending champions CP World-Petromann claimed their second consecutive ICC GCA Summer Indoor Cricket Tournament at the ICC Global Cricket Academy grounds and successfully defended their title with an easy nine-run win over Danube, a press release said.
After electing to field, CP World bowlers did well to restrict Danube for just 44 runs with their excellent bowling and fielding in the allotted 12 overs.
Requiring 45 runs in 12 overs, CP World’s opening pair started off cautiously with Usman (5) and Aijaz (6) scoring 11 runs for the opening stand.
Danube then fought back to restrict the second pair of Rohan Mustafa (1) and Asif (4) to just five runs, taking the tally to 16 runs at the end of 6 overs.
With the pressure mounting on CP World, it was up to the third pair of Kumara (13) and Rohan Nayak (8) who batted with supreme authority and posted a match-best score of 21 runs without losing a wicket. With only eight runs required in the last three overs, Sameer Nayak and Aqib Malik strolled through, each scoring eight runs without being dismissed and ensured a comfortable nine-run victory for CP World over Danube.
