Saudi Arabia’s customs department seized 18.2 million items of counterfeit goods during the second quarter of this year, it has been reported.
The number of goods seized in the three months ending March increased 33 percent but the number of smuggling attempts declined 16 percent, Saudi Customs spokesperson Abdullah Al-Kharboush told the Saudi Press Agency.
Confiscated goods included 734kg of narcotic substances, 8.7 million tablets and up to 60,000 bottles of alcohol.
