65 Abu Dhabi G12 students scored 99% or more
Abu Dhabi 8th July, 2012:
H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director General of Abu
Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), congratulated G12 students,
parents and the teaching and administrative staff on this year’s
improving results, thanks to the limitless support of education
by UAE prudent leadership.
“The significant improvement demonstrated by Abu Dhabi
students, along with their peers in other emirates, reflects their growing awareness on the importance of being qualified staff
and leaders in the future in order to contribute to the socio-
economic development,” said Dr. Al Khaili in his speech
delivered on the occasion of school year conclusion.
“In both scientific and literary sections, our G12 students have
achieved more progress one year after another in accordance
with ADEC strategy. The number of students achieving 99% or more in both sections increased from 38 last year to 65
students this year,” Dr. Al Khaili added.
Similarly, the number of students scoring 95% or more
increased from 851 last year to 1109 students this year, while those who achieved 90% or more jumped from 2365 students
to 2801 students, added the Director General.
“This year’s general success percentage in literary section rose
to 82% compared with 79% last year, and in scientific section
it increased from 84.5% to 85%.
In the School Year 2011/2012, students achieved better results in various subjects. 73.4% of Literary Section students
passed the English exam compared to 68.6% last year, while
in the Scientific Section the percentage rose from 84.3% to
87.8%. This annual improvement in English results was
reflected in CIPA score as the success rate of both sections’ students rose from 3% to 12% in four years for those wishing
to join university.
In Arabic, 73.4% of Literary Section students passed the exam
compared to 77% last year, while in the Scientific Section the
success percentage rose from 87.8% to 90.4%.
In Math, the general success percentage for both literary and
scientific sections increased from 80.9% last year to 84% this
year. In Physics, It rose from 76.9% to 81.4%, and in Biology
from 80.9% to 83.8%. Success percentage in Chemistry
increased from 81.3% to 83.2%.
According to ADEC’s Director General, such continuous
improvement indicates that the quality level in Abu Dhabi schools is progressing after educational development has
resulted in a holistic transformation from traditional methods of teaching and learning into a student-centered approach which
focuses on equipping students with advanced skills and
capabilities such as critical thinking, scientific research, problem solving, and teamwork in addition to developing their
Arabic and English skills.
“ADEC’s efforts and initiatives aim to ensure students are
capable of successfully pursuing their higher education and meeting labor market needs,” Dr. Al Khaili indicated.
In his speech, the Director General lauded the efforts of the
teaching and administrative staff for enhancing student
academic level and skills. In addition, the role played by parents in supporting the various initiatives launched by ADEC
over the past years was also highly commended.
