Widening of Sharjah road begins
As part of the ongoing projects aimed at enhancing the road networks in Sharjah, the Department of Public Works started the work on widening Shaikh Salim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi Street on Monday.
The project, which will cost Dh11.3 million, will be completed in five months.
The work includes two more lanes in each direction on the 4km stretch, bus bays on both sides, construction of intersections and street lighting.
Al Hajri said the 4km street now has only one lane each in either direction, which was built a long time ago when there were not many residents in the area. The number of residents has now increased exponentially. The stretch has become vital connecting Al Dhaid Road with Maleeha Road and has the residential areas of Noof and Al Grayen on one side and those of Al Basateen on the other.
