President’s Cup to be held in two stages

The draw of the President’s Cup and first division national league for the 2012/2013 season was held at the association’s offices in Dubai on Thursday afternoon.

 

The President’s Cup tournament will be held in two stages. The first stage, a single round league format, will feature the first division clubs during the period from September 27 to October 13.

The top clubs in the four groups will advance to the last four of the first stage. The leaders of Group A will face the leaders of Group C and the leaders of Group B will play against the leaders of Group D and the two winners advance to the last 16 of the competition.

The first division national league for the 2012/ 2013 season kick starts after the end of the preliminary round of the President’s Cup and ends on Friday May 17, 2013.

The competition will be held of two parts on the basis of the home and away format.

The competition committee honoured the ideal clubs for the 2011/2012 season at the end of the draw ceremony. Al Khaleej, winners of the ideal club for the first division (A) and the U-17 national league, and, Al Rams, winners of the ideal club in the first division (B) national league, and Al Wada, winners of the U-19 national league, were honoured.

Al Ain claimed the ideal club trophy in the U-15 and U-14 national leagues while Al Jazira walked away with the ideal club trophy in the U-13 national league with Al Nasr snatching the U-12 national league honours.
