RTA briefs Dubai Executive Council on employees self-assessment model

The Roads Transport Authority - Manal Khalid: The Development & Corporate Performance Dep't at the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently reviewed with a delegation of the Dubai Executive Council , its experiment in employees self-assessment; which is one of the key initiatives adopted by the Dep't since 1997 aimed at diffusing the knowledge and culture of excellence among employees.

 

Dr. Khalid Al Zahid, Director of RTA Development & Corporate Performance shed light on RTA's role & responsibility in launching various initiatives in the interest of employees, particularly as the RTA is among the first government entities that introduced the self-assessment initiative with a view to providing moral support to employees, and pushing them to achieve the highest standards of performance excellence & innovation. He also stressed its responsibility for effectively shaping the future of Dubai through training and grooming human resources for taking part in the Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP).

"Thanks to our incessant endeavours over the past few years, we have managed to train and qualify human resources through setting up an internal work team in line with the Program and comprising of 22 RTA employees of whom Emiratis account for 72.7%. The Team has a considerable role to play in diffusing the culture of excellence & quality among all employees, and motivating them to work hard and more," continued Al Zahid.

 

In a related development, Al Zahid indicated the core jobs to be tackled by the Team which include: holding several educational and awareness workshops that contribute to excellence and career creativity, and delivering a lecture entitled: DGEP Clinic, supervised by one of RTA Specialists who is required to offer counseling & tips about the standards of the DGEP.

 

The meeting concluded to the need of broadening & enhancing the communication channels between the RTA and the Executive Council of Dubai Emirate through holding more bilateral meetings & workshops in order to identify the points of strength and weakness in the level of services delivered by the RTA.
