Great Australian leg spinner Shane Warne has tweeted his delight at news the English county cricket side Hampshire will name a grandstand in his honor.

Warne, who played for the county over a period of eight years including a long period as captain, told his Twitter followers on Sunday of his pleasure at the recognition.

The newly-christened Shane Warne Grandstand was due to be unveiled at Hampshire’s Rose Bowl ground before the first one-day international between England and the West Indies.

Warne tweeted “thanks to everyone at Hampshire. Loved my eight years. I feel very proud and honored to have a stand named after me along with C. Ingleby-Mackenzie.”
